The Dewey Beach Patrol is staffed with open water rescue lifeguards and EMTs. At the present time, we accepting applications for the 2010 season. Interested individuals should complete an
application and submit it to the Captain as soon as possible. Once the application is received, immediate correspondence will be established.
Dewey Beach Patrol Application
Each interested party must complete an application and attend one of
the tryout dates listed below.
There will be three tryouts held. Dates and times of tryouts are listed below. Any one that is
unable to attend the tryouts, please submit an application
and you will have to contact the Dewey Beach Patrol after
the Memorial Day Weekend for any available positions.
Tryouts will be at the Dewey Beach Lifesaving Station. Each
applicant will be tested on the following: 200
meter soft sand sprint, 1 mile beach run, 200 yard pool
swim, rescue simulations, strength testing, 500 meter open water swim, and written test (after inclusive certification course). All
tryouts will begin at the Dewey Beach Lifesaving Station at
11:30 AM SHARP!! They will then proceed to the Sussex
Family YMCA for the remaining portions of the tryout.
All accepted applicants must have CPR and First Aid Certification prior to Opening Day (i.e. Memorial Day).
